Buckeye Blogging: disaster porn, fresh sushi, community clean-ups, community blogging, and lottery number crunching

A round up of recent posts from all around Ohio:

Cincinnati:
The Cincinnati Beacon muses on disaster porn, and whether it is appropriate in either print news or online blog coverage of events.

Columbus:
Restaurant Window takes a look at Tensuke Market down in Columbus. I'm not a sushi man, but I like onigiri, and I'm still left wondering if the words 'takeout' and 'sushi' really belong together...

Cleveland:
Brewed Fresh Daily always has a good finger on the pulse of North-East Ohio blogging, and points out an excellent post by Ed Morrison about how clean-up campaigns can create the networks needed to reshape communities, using the Cuyahoga River clean-up campaign as an example. Earlier on the blog we noted how amazing it was that volunteers were descending up on North-East Ohio parks to repair them, it would seem this is not a random event, but part of larger pattern of hard work by people in that part of the state.

Akron:
The Greater Area Akron Blogging Network is up and running, and as you can guess from the title, it's an area for bloggers of all kinds in that general location to post about meetups and link to articles of interest.

Meanwhile, like many other people over the last week, Akron area blogger Mary Biddinger of Wordcage talks about graduation and pomp and circumstance.

Toledo:
Politics in Mudville takes a closer look at obstruction and cover ups by the Toledo Catholic Diocese that's on a lot of people's minds after the nationally followed trial recently.

On a lighter note, Hooda Thunkit takes a closer look at the odds of winning the lottery. Odds are you'll have fun trying to parse the math...

Buckeye Blogging: Film and Video festival submissions needed, Meet The Bloggers, Toledo Storm events, and the Marblehead Daisy Festival

A round up of recent posts from all around Ohio:

Cincinnati:
The Cincinnati Beacon is posting a series where reporter Pamela Mills gets to expand on her series of award winning newspaper columns about the science behind CPR and how it is used. Always interesting to see how blogs can augment or amp up traditional media.

Columbus:
weColumbus points out that the Columbus International Film & Video festival is looking for entries. weColumbus also notes the Small Press and Alternative Comics Expo is this Saturday  at the Aladdin Shrine Complex, so if you are in Columbus go support your local indy creative types!

Cleveland:
Brewed Fresh Daily has posted audio of the latest Cleveland 'Meet The Bloggers' event looking at education, employment, and other community issues.

And if you're interested in a total LAN fragfest meetup, checkout NOLGA for your in-person gaming needs this June. Sign up now before all 169 spots are taken...

Toledo:
Love Hockey? Toledo Talk has the inside scoop on Toledo Storm activities and promotional events for you.

Buckeye Blogging: 5/8/06

A round up of recent posts from all around Ohio:

Cincinnati:
Cirque de Solei will be in Cincinnati at the end of this summer, and Clarke Street Blog links to info about the need for trained volunteers to assist in mass emergencies.

Columbus:
Columbus Best talks about the unique methods Columbus has used to become the 15th largest city in the US.

Akron:
Pho of Pho's Akron pages covers the Inventors Hall of Fame Induction, previously mentioned here on BloggingOhio.

Cleveland:
Brewed Fresh Daily points out Improvised Schema's blogpost about the Breuer Building, a skyscraper with some unique design principles that seems to have been abandoned by many of the interests around it. I love Cleveland's skyline, the first time I visited there from the Caribbean I walked around looking up the whole time, it'd be sad to see the building torn down.

Meanwhile, What's in the Bag ponders municipal wireless efforts in New York and how they matter in his area as well.

Toledo:
The Toledo Free Press covers the Toledo Bloggers in an in depth article, featuring many of the varied blogs that can be found in the north-west corner of the state.

Glass City Jungle breaks the news that the Southwyck Mall will get much needed renovation assistance from Stautzenberger College. It'll be nice to see that happen.
